IBM recently released the below video on how the recruiter mindset and strategy is changing and we couldn’t agree more.
The current job market is all about the candidate, they are in control of the process. For now there is short fall of talent especially within the Sales & Marketing industries. The best candidates have an abundance of choice and they are making the most of it by being selective and calling the shots – and rightly so!
The digital age has had a huge impact on attracting candidates as they now have access to what sometimes feel like unlimited information on companies they are interested in working for. Whilst this can be a double edged sword, if digital platforms and attraction tools are used in the right way, the best talent all over the world can be reached.
Recruiters are becoming marketers (or at least they should be). With so much competition amongst recruiters and companies to attract the best talent, it is no longer good enough for recruiters to go after individuals only relevant for their current vacancies. Recruiters must change the strategy to be more marketing-centric by targeting exceptional individuals for the future and not just for now. Once you’ve managed to engage a talented individual in your sector, hold onto them and nurture them because whilst they might not be right for your role today, it’s likely they will be right for a role in the future. One day, the candidates you took time to nurture (whether placed or not) may even become your client.
