In anticipation of the impending New Year’s resolutions, I have been talking to PR professionals and asking for their recommendations on the best training and resources online for PR professionals. If you’re looking to improve your knowledge, get certified or are just interested in building your knowledge then here is a list of the favourites from both in-house and agency PR professionals.
Chartered Institute of Public Relations - CIPR is a professional body for Public relations and has a huge range of resources and industry news on their website. They offer guides highlighting news and information on various topics that can be used by PR professionals at all levels. This is an essential website to PR professionals along with PR Week to keep up to date with industry news.
Cision - If you are a visual learner then Cision is a good option. Cision offers free videos and webinars as well as links to various white papers. The site also releases frequent content from guest speakers and influencers from the PR world.
Vuelio- Although Vuelio is primarily a software provider to manage stakeholder engagement, it also has a section that offers tip sheets and videos for PR professionals and a regularly updated blog with some really good content.
Alison - Introduction to public relations- Alison offers a free in-depth online training course. If you’re looking to broaden your knowledge on the foundations of PR, this is a brilliant tool to use. Although there is no audio or video, it does offer an assessment and certificate on completion.
Stephen Waddington - Stephens’s blog is a thorough insight into the PR industry. Stephen gives opinions on industry news and an analysis of current trends. With vast years of experience Stephen’s blog is a must to keep up to date within the fast moving industry that is PR. Stephen is currently a partner at Ketchum and so offers a very well informed insight into PR agency life too.
And finally, many PR and marketing focused companies publish useful content for fellow PR professionals via their blogs, a few examples of those who offer trends, insights and tips are, Edelman, Contently, and Bell Pottinger.
There is obviously a huge range of resources and training online that are available to PR professionals. Have you come across any great ones that I haven’t mentioned that you can share with your fellow PR peers? Let us know in the comments below.
